11.19.2009 — I have a son! Jack

I have a son! Jack (John Rankin Wilbourne IV) was born last Monday, November 9. I was in the room, right next to Morgen. We had waited nine months to meet our child and wanted to be surprised by the gender. So once the doctor held him up, I was suspended in unspeakable joy for several seconds until finally I caught the words and screamed out, “It’s a…boy!”

He was bigger than we expected—9 pounds! And 20 ½ inches long. He’s a solid little guy, and strong. He moves constantly (like dad) but so far cries rarely (like mom).

Second to my wedding day, Jack’s birthday was the happiest day of my life. Morgen and I laughed and cried through most of the next 24 hours, we were so happy. Morgen is doing well.
